Sweet Sixteen
Two normal teenagers, twins Aki and Aya (Ayashi) Mikage, are just going through the everyday motions of life and have no idea about their family's dark secrets. They are just like any other everyday Japanese teens; going out to karoke with friends, wanting to fall in love, attending school, having petty sibling fights, ect. However, theirs is a desiny that one would not be jealous over. They are the reincarnations of the husband and wife - Ceres and Shiso.
Days before their sixteenth birthdays, Aya almost gets involved in a terrible accident when she falls off an overpass while trying to stop a purse snatcher. She is stopped from certain death though, when as she was falling she sees symbols and visions of an unknown past, Ceres' past. Ceres stops Aya from dying (for she really wants a chance to take over the body first), whilas Aya and Aki are left to wonder why Aya had floated in midair instead of becoming a bloody corpse on the ground.
However, they do not have long to ponder this event, for their birthday arrives few days later. The twins arrive at their grandfathers' house for their birthday party and are presented with a mummified hand. Aya, seeing the same visions again, momentarily becomes Ceres and destroys the hand, while Aki breaks out in wounds all over his body; the same wounds that Ceres inflicted upon Shiso when he was killed. Discovering their idenities, the Mikage send Aki, who is proclaimed to be the chosen leader of the family (as Shiso would be), to the hospital for treatment while they prepare to kill Aya, or Ceres, at once.
Ceres, being her strongest in her reincarnation of Aya, takes over the body of Aya before this can take place and destroys most of the Mikage present in the room; and delivers Aya to safety
After many events, Aya becomes determined to find the feathered robe for Ceres and save her brother from their family (who are all crazy). Meanwhile Aki, to save his sister from Ceres' vengeful spirit, decides to embrace the idenity of Shiso in order to regain the memory of where the robe was hidden.
But perhaps the reason they were reincarnated at the same time was not for finding a feathered robe or making the Mikage powerful. Maybe it was heaven's way of making them finally face each other and make the many centuries long martial dispute come to an end.
